Discover Life Church’s Scholarship Programs (Let’s Go Higher!)
Discover Life Church is proud to announce the official launch of our church wide scholarships offered to our DLC Student body for the 2024-2025 school year. As a church body, we want to support and encourage our students on their continued journey of educational development.
We are therefore excited to be able to offer the following three key scholarships for our graduating student body at DLC in 2024:
DLC Scholarships
In a world of “influencers,” our Next Gen Influencer Scholarship will be awarded to a recipient who has demonstrated a bold fearlessness to be a godly leader and make a positive impact on their peer group and circle of influence. A video submission will be required to answer the question: How are you a next-generation influencer?
Our All Around Excellence Scholarship will be awarded to a recipient who embodies the mentality of always “raising and setting the bar high” across all spheres of their life. Areas that will be considered include but are not limited to academic GPA, civic and community engagement, extracurricular activities, and personal character and development.
In celebration of the life and leadership of Dr. James & Maxine Singleton, DLC is proud to offer this legacy scholarship to a recipient who either 1) determines they will attend an HBCU college in the upcoming fall semester or 2) determines they will major in an education or science-related field of study.

Application Requirements
Our complete scholarship application is digital and can be completed directly on our website. Please be prepared to upload the following supporting documents to your application file:
1. An unofficial and recent high school transcript, showing cumulative grade point average and class standing/rank.
2. Two (2) Signed letters of recommendation from the following: (1) Community - an employer, community member, club sponsor, coach, or individual with significant knowledge of applicant’s character, experience and involvement and (2) Church - a person who is an active member of Discover Life Church. Letters may NOT come from family members.
3. Student Resume
4. Essay. On a separate sheet, please address the following questions, in 300-500 words:
- How has Discover Life Church impacted your life and how have you impacted DLC?
- In what ways has your faith impacted your life?
- Share your personal religious beliefs and give specific examples of how your beliefs guide you in how you live your daily life.
- Why is the Discover Life Church scholarship important to you?

Frequently Asked Questions
A: Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicant must be a member of Discover Life Church for at least six (6) months.
- Applicant must be a graduating high school senior in the year of the award.
- Applicant must have minimum unweighted G.P.A. of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale and maintain a G.P.A. of 2.0 during 1st semester of college to receive full scholarship amount.
- Applicant must be accepted at and attend an accredited 2 or 4-year college/university. (Verification of enrollment must be presented before any funds will be disbursed)
A: The scholarship application portal is open NOW! The deadline for all applications for the 2024-2025 school year will close Friday, March 1st at 11:59pm.
A: Once the deadline has passed the Scholarship Committee will review all submissions submitted by the due date. All applicants will be notified via email of the Committee’s decision by the 1st week of April. Award recipients will be publicly announced to the congregation at the Graduate Recognition Service during 2nd service on May 19, 2024.
A: The business office of Discover Life Church will coordinate the distribution of the award directly to the recipient’s confirmed choice of college or university. (Proof of acceptance into an accredited college/institution is required prior to receipt of funds).
A: At this time, our scholarships are only available for graduating high school seniors, who will be pursuing college as an undergraduate student.
- Scholarship amounts will range from $1,000 to $5,000 based on the decision of the Scholarship Committee.
